The Lost Boys

1987 The Lost Boys:

by Kiki and T

Kiki-
Michael (played by Jason Patric, who also played Jay in
Expired 2007, Louis in Downloading Nancy 2008, and Brian in My Sister's Keeper 2009) is one of the main characters. He starts out being a good older brother that obeys his mom and drags his little brother around like his mother wants. Then, while at the carnival, he sees a girl that he likes. Though she hangs out with some bad boys. Michael hangs out with them to get closer to the girl. While hanging out, he drinks something that he doesn't like what it is. He later finds out it is vampire blood, which turns him into a half vampire.

Sam (played by Corey Haim, who also played Tony in
The Back Lot Murders 2002, Sam in Lost Boys: The Tribe 2008, and Randy in Crank: High Voltage 2009) is Michael's little brother who reads a lot of comics and gets scared by them a lot. When he first goes to his mom about the vampires, she doesn't believe him because of how scared he gets of his comics. As he keeps bugging her about it, she gets madder and madder. He finally realizes that he needs to deal with it on his own, other than the help of his new friends "The Frog Brothers" of course.

Lucy (played by Dianne Wiest, who also played Flori in
A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints 2006, Carol in Dedication 2007, and Nana in Dan in Real Life 2007) is the single mom of Michael and Sam. She is a little naive and doesn't want to believe Sam with almost any story he tells her. She ends up dating a guy who is no good.

Grandpa (played by Barnard Hughes, who also played Father Maurice in
Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit 1993, Beaumont in The Odd Couple II 1998, and Frank in Cradle Will Rock 1999) is the crazy grandpa who cracks jokes through out the whole movie.

Max (played by Edward Herrmann, who also played Mr. Landis in
I Think I Love My Wife 2007,
Richard Gilmore in the TV sires
Gilmore Girls, and Principal Fred Daly in Hatching Pete 2009) plays Lucy's boyfriend, and the head vampire.

David (played by Kiefer Sutherland, who also played Ace Merrill in
Stand by Me 1986, Sgt. Roebuck in Call of Duty: World at War 2008, and the voice of General W. R. Monger in Monsters vs Aliens 2009) is the leader vampire that everyone thinks is the head vampire. He keeps the head vampire a secret from everyone.

Star (played by Jami Gertz, who also played Judy Miller in the TV show
Still Standing, Joanne Fiedler in Keeping Up With the Steins 2006, and Sara Metcalfe in the TV show Shark) plays the girl that Michael likes and David's so called girlfriend. She too is a half vampire and tries not to turn into a full one, just as Michael does through out the whole movie. She ends up falling in love with Michael and helps him to kill David.

Edgar Frog (played by Corey Feldman, who also played Tommy{at 12} in
Friday the 13th: A New Beginning 1985, Clark 'Mouth' Devereaux in The Goonies 1985, and Teddy Duchamp in Stand by Me 1986) is one of 'The Frog Brothers' who meet Sam in the beginning and help him through out the movie. They are vampire experts and killers.

Alan Frog (played by Jamison Newlander, who also played Anthony in
The Blob 1988, Alexander in Rooster 2003, and Alan Frog in Lost Boys: The Tribe 2008) is the other frog brother who Sam meets.

As far as vampire movies go, this movie is one of the bests. The classics are always better, but these vampires aren't exactly ugly and they don't freakin' sparkle like the
Twilight vampires do (not dissing Twilight, I actually like it. I just hate that they sparkle). Most of the vampire movies that I have seen are pretty cheesy with no really good story line. They either focus on all the blood or on the attacking. They hardly give a background story or any information on how the vampires work. This movie actually shows most of how the vampire's work, rather than giving a long and boring description. I give this movie 2 thumbs up.

T-
The Lost Boys was the revive of the horror and action vampire movies that died out in the 1980's. They were comedies before, this movie was their revival. I liked it for many reasons, some of which was the story was captivating. Along the lines of Micheal and his family moving to Santa Carla, Micheal falls in with the vampire group on accident and becomes half vamp. The rest is Michael, Sam, and the Frog brothers trying to kill the head vamp to revers Michael's condition. Near the end there is a big confrontation, in which my favorite part is shown, a vampire is dumped into a bathtub of holy water and all the pipes and sinks in the house burst and spue blood everywhere. Another is the smart Alic lines you hear, like after all the vamps are dead the grandpa says "One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach. All the **** vampires." Over all, I think this is a very good movie.

Renaissance Festival in Plantersville, TX

This is T, Kiki is still sick and out. Hopefully she will get well soon.
(Later edited by Kiki)

Yesterday, October 26, we went to the Renaissance Festival in Plantersville, TX and it was a blast. We took a three hour bus ride, which is basically three hours down time for whatever. When we got there, we went with our group leader to a meeting spot. Then we were let free to go where ever.

On school days, the Renascence has everything from food to live entertainment, but everything has a price so bring lots of money if you go. The food is great they have Turkey legs, chicken on a stick, alligator on a stick, sausage on a stick, and bottled soda to dink. The food is not that bad and the entertainment is great. They have a joust to watch, three theaters to find shows at. There is a moving duel where anyone can fight anyone (the proprietor just has two Styrofoam sword to use) which is lots of fun. I dominated an eighteen year old and I am only sixteen, but the best thing about the renaissance festival (and there biggest money maker) are their shops.

They have two different types of shops. The one where everything is stuff found in the renaissance era, but are made using today's methods, and the one where everything is made using the methods found in the renaissance era. I prefer the second type, because of the idea that this was hand made like in the renaissance, and it is so awesome. Though, the other shops are good to check out as well, because of what they have, like books related to the era. They have many places that show how glass is blown or how things are made. I even saw a stale with a Gutenberg printing press. To anyone who goes, remember it's fun but expensive.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 4, Episode 10:
by Kiki and T

Kiki-

People on
Buffy the Vampire Slayer that we will talk about, but haven't given information on yet:

Tara Maclay (played by Amber Benson) is the amazing new witch that has taken a liking to Willow. She plays the shy character very well. Her and Willow do a pretty cool natural magic scene in this episode. They later decide to hook up. Very wonderful couple if you ask me. She also plays Julia in
Act Your Age (2008), Noreen in The Killing Jar (2009), and multiple other movies along with a few shows.

Spike (played by James Marsters) is the bad boy vampire that falls in love with Buffy and decides to make friends, in hopes of hooking up with her. In the long run, they end up using him for information on bad guys they face. He also plays Brainiac in the TV series
Smallville, Captain John Hart in a TV show called Torchwood, and in many other shows (guest staring in most).

Rupert Giles (played by Anthony Head) is the close friend, and informant of Buffy and the rest of their little gang. He is the guy that knows all about the monsters they come up against, or has easy access to the information so he can do some over night research. He also played Stephen in a TV show called
Free Agents, Uther in a TV show called Merlin, and was in many other TV shows.

Now, as for this episode. I would have to say that this is one of my favorites. It was written so that Joss Whedon could prove that he could make a great show without dialog. For the first 5 minutes, people wont stop talking. Then they lose their voices while they sleep. It is then like a silent movie until the last 5 minutes. When they get their voices back, they don't talk as much as they did before, thus showing that they learned a lesson about arguing so much and interrupting each other all the time.
In the beginning, Willow notices Tara at a wiccan meeting. No one in their group wants to take Willow's spell idea seriously and when Tara tries saying something, supporting Willow, people don't listen. Later in the show, while being chased by the Gentlemen, Willow and Tara realize that together, they have a lot of power. This is where Willow starts to like Tara.

In the beginning with Buffy and Riley (Marc Blucas), they won't stop babbling and just kiss already. Once they lose their voices, they can't babble anymore, so Riley ends up kissing her. At the end, when they are going to talk, they just don't.
With Xander and Anya (Emma Caulfield), they are arguing because Anya doesn't understand how Xander likes her, because this is his first real relationship and he doesn't know how to act. After they lose their voices, Xander walks in with Anya laying on the cough and Spike on his hands and knees by her. When Spike hears Xander walk in, he sits up and their is blood on his mouth. Xander assumes that Spike as killed Anya, so he attacks Spike. Anya then sees that he cares.

The Gentlemen are these guys who take away peoples voices in a whole town and rip out peoples hearts so you wont be able to scream. They are these creepy looking guys but dressed nice and act polite. Where as there jockys wear straight jackes and do all the dirty work.

T-
This episode of
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is all about communication. It goes without words for most of the movie. After the first five minutes, all characters lose their voice and need to comunicate without talking. The Gentlemen, as this episode's bad guys, know they can't be killed by a man made weapon. Their death is brought by the scream of a living human, not a recording. Buffy and company have to fight them and their dogs until they get their voices back. They are killed by Buffy's scream and their heads blow up.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 2, Episode 6: October 27, 1997:
By Kiki and T

Kiki-
The whole Buffy series is just amazing. It combines romance, humor, and horror all in one action packed TV show. The concept of the show in itself is just amazingly awesome. If you haven't seen a single episode, you must.
The three main people, that were pretty much in the series from beginning to end, are Buffy Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar), Xander Harris (played by Nicholas Brendon), and Willow Rosenberg (played by Alyson Hannigan).

Sarah is an amazing actress and only gets better as she does each episode. She also played Daphne in
Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed
(2004), Karen in the Grudge (2004) and the Grudge 2 (2006), and multiple other movies. In Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she plays the wicked awesome vampire slayer with a big ego and huge attitude. She started out as a cheerleader and then became the vampire slayer. It took here a little while to adjust, but by this episode, she is starting to realize that she won't be a normal girl.

Nicholas is great actor, I'm just not to fond of his character in this show. He also played Chase in Blood on the Highway (2008), Kevin in multiple episodes of Criminal Minds, and various other Television shows. In this show though, he plays the dorky best friend of Buffy that helps with a lot of the cases and adds some humor into the show.

Alyson is a very beautiful and wonderful actress that seems to really put herself into the character. She isn't the main character but she is my favorite character in the series. She also played Julia in Date Movie (2006), Lily in How I met Your Mother, and a few other movies and shows. In this wonderful TV show, she plays the nerdy best friend of Buffy that is kind of like the girl next door.

David Boreanaz (plays the character Angel) is the vampire with a soul. He later goes and has his own show, called Angel, which he plays Angel, the same one from Buffy. He is a great actor, adds a nice amount of humor and drama in the show. He was also played Booth in the TV show Bones.

Now, in this episode, it is about the high school students taking little kids trick or treating on Halloween. They all buy Halloween costumes in a new story, though they all turn into what they dress up as.
There are many metaphors in this show (much like in all the episodes), yet the one that stuck out to me the most was the one involving Willow. It deals with the main metaphor of the show, yet personalized just for her. Buffy tries getting her to show more skin and look cute for her costume. She doesn't want to so she wears a ghost costume over it. When everyone turns into their costumes, Willow turns into a ghost, showing the little outfit Buffy picked out for her. By the end, Willow comes to terms with how she looks and ditches the ghost costume.

T-
The Buffy series is amazing, I recommend it for any one who likes action, comedy, romance, and lots of drama. This episode starts with Buffy fighting a vampire and killing them. Then going to meet Angle for a date. Upon arrival, she sees Cordillia talking with Angle. It has her doubting that Angle likes her. So Buffy and Willow barrow the "Watchers Diary" without Giles knowing. They then learn about what women looked like when Angle was 16. While at school, Buffy and her friends get roped into signing up to watch little kids trick or treat, so they get costumes. Buffy sees one that looks like the clothes described from the "Watchers Diary" and
later while trike or treating, gets turned into a 18th century girl from Angel's time. The guy who sold Buffy the costume makes everyone turn into what they were dressed as. Buffy is then unable to fight at all and is useless until Giles breaks the spell. The main metaphor is, don't try to be what you're not. It wont work out well.

Nosferatu

Nosferatu 1922:
by Kiki and T

Kiki
This movie is amazing! The lead girl, Nina, or Ellen Hutter (played by Greta Schr
öder) did a pretty good job on her acting and did a good job of over reacting. Her husband, Jonathon Harker, or Hutter (played by Gustav Von Wangenheim) also did a good job with over reacting. Though, I think that he acted a little too happy and crossed the line between realistic acting and over the top overreacting. As for Count Dracula, or Graf Orlok (played by Max Schreck, my new idol), he did over the top creepy. He is what made the movie what it is. Very dedicated in his work, never breaking character. Max didn't even break character when off the set. He would go around hunting people at night and there was even talk of him attacking people on set. Don't be surprised if he pays you a little visit at night after you watch the movie. The movie has been known for engraving his image in your mind, thus making you see him when you wake up in the middle of the night. He doesn't stay long though.

T
Nosferatu is an exallent movie done in 1992. It's done in black and white and the actors don't talk in it. In the theaters, it was shown with a live symphony for the music. The music is now in the movie that you would buy or get online. Most of the messages conceived are done via body language, otherwise there are parts where the screen goes black and white text appears to tell you what they're saying or white with black writing for pages in a book appears. Yet, despite this, the movie is a spine tingling chiller, It's not the type of movie where you jump because something came out of no where, it's the kind that gets under your skin and makes you paranoid for long periods of time. I give it a 9 out of 10 on the awesome 'O' meter. The only reason its not 10 is because the end is anti-climatic as the vampire is killed by normal sun light.

Opening Image: The professor (played by Gustav Botz) was warning Jonathon about Renfield (or Knock, ein H
äusemakler played by Alexander Granach), saying that he is crazy and that something bad will happen basically.

Them Stated: When Renfield tells Jonathon to go to Transylvania to meet Count Dracula, and says, "You will have a marvelous journey. And, young as you are, what matter if it costs you some pain - or even a little blood?..."

Set-up: Jonathon shows up at Count Dracula's castle.

Catalyst: Jonathon cuts his finger and Count Dracula licks the blood, freaking out a little. Jonathon gets freaked out by it and backs away from him.

Debate: In the morning, after the first night, Jonathon wakes up and finds bites on his neck. He doesn't want to believe it is from Count Dracula, so he tells himself that it was a spider or large mosquito.

Break into two: When Jonathon reads his vampire book again and then looks out the door, seeing Count Dracula standing at the end of the hall, watching Jonathon creepily.

B story: Where the doctor goes in to see Nina.
They discover that Nina has the symptoms of a disease, after she found out about Nosferatu (meaning vampire).

Fun and Games: Renfield is running around through town, being chased by the towns people, cops, and doctors. He talks about his master coming. Then they catch him and throw him back in.

Midpoint: Jonathon is attacked by Count Dracula. He wakes up and sees the coffins full of Transylvanian dirt and rats being taken away to be moved for Count Dracula. He is now starting to believe that Count Dracula is a vampire.

Bad guys close in: Count Dracula kills everyone on the ship.

All is lost:
Count Dracula movies across from Jonathon and Nina.

Dark Night of the Soul: Everyone finds out about the Nosferatu being there and they are told to say in their houses. A guy goes around putting crosses on everyone's door in chalk or something of that sort.

Break into Three: Nina reads in Jonathon's vampire book that, "Only a woman can break his frightful spell- a woman pure in heart- who will offer her blood freely to Nosferatu and will keep the vampire by her side until after the cock has crowed." and she decides to do that to save Jonathon.

Finale: Nina keeps Count Dracula at hers and Jonathon's house with her until morning. When the sun rises, Count Dracula dies. Just moments after, Jonathon runs in and Nina dies in his arms.
Final Image: The professor ends up being right and something did in fact happen.

The Night of the Living Dead

1968 The Night of the Living Dead:
This is T and Kiki here to tell you about yet another great movie. It was the first zombie movie ever and when it came out, the term "zombie" was non-existent.

Kiki- I haven't seen this movie in 2 or 3 years, but I loved it when I did see it. Though, it wasn't what I was looking for at the time, so I was just a bit disappointed at first. After a few minutes in, I found that I liked it and it isn't bad for an old black and white zombie movie. This is the original zombies, you get to see what they started out as. You should try watching this movie and watching a new zombie film (such as Dawn of the Dead) and compare the two.

So this is T and this is my opinion, The Night of the Living Dead is an excellent movie by my standards. When I consider the fact that it was made in 1968, at the time, this movie was probably a real "gross out" movie because of the blood splatter in one scene. The zombies were mindlessly eating people in another scene. Though, for me it was mildly disturbing, there were parts I found amusing. Such as when the lead actress, Barbra played by Judith O'Dea, was just walking around with a glazed look in her eyes, throughout most of the movie, that could fool anyone into thinking she was a zombie herself. There was also an explosive scene involving a truck, gasoline, and a burning torch. I recommend you see this if you get the time, it gets a solid 5.5 on the awesome 'O' meter.

The Night of the Living Dead

GENRE: Horror

DATE: 1968

By T and edited by Kiki

1. Opening Image (1): Barbra (aka: Judith O'Dea) and her brother, Johnny (aka: Russell Streiner), go to a cemetery to remember their dad and pray for his soul. Then they see a zombie, but they don't recognize him as a zombie.

2. Theme Stated (5): The theme was stated when Johnny said, "They are coming for you Barbra", making fun of her and the dead.

3. Set-Up (1-10): None of the main characters show up, but this would be the time when the zombies start attacking.

4. Catalyst (12): Johnny is killed by the zombie. Then the zombie goes after Barbra and she runs, trying to start her car. The car goes a little ways, then it wrecks and runs into a house.

5. Debate (12-25): Barbra is in the house and Ben (Duane Jones) has shown up and boarded the house up already. Barbra has gone into a mental shock by this point and is not reacting to anything.

6. Break into Two (25): The house is surrounded by zombies and Ben starts to throw flaming furniture at them, scaring them off.

7. B Story (30): More people come out of the basement, which leads to a whole conflict between the basement people and Ben. This is because he won't go down to the basement or let them take anything down to the basement.

8. Fun and Games (30-55): Where all the zombie fighting happens. It is spread out and there are gaps.

9. Midpoint (55): They have had radio for a while and it had Ben telling them to stay inside, but a TV Brod cast says that shelters have been set up and they should try to get to the closest one.

10. Bad Guys Close In (55-75): They try to get to the gas pump and wound up blowing up the truck, killing two of the lesser character.

11. All Is Lost (75): The two dead are getting eaten in a gruesome way by the zombies. Everyone is depressed, because the truck was the only way out and now they can't escape.

12. Dark Night of the Soul (75-85): The zombies start breaking into the house and Harry Cooper (Karl Hardman) steals a gun from Ben. Ben then takes it back and shoots Harry. Harry stumbles down into the basement and dies. Harry's zombiefid daughter starts to eat him. Then Harry's wife goes down to check on him and gets killed by the daughter in a very gruesome way.

13. Break into Three (85): Ben is ran into the basement by zombies, which have broken into the house.

14. Finale (85-110): Down in the basement, Ben is forced to take down the little girl, only for Harry to come back as a zombie once he is dead for good. The wife starts coming back and she is also taken down. He is boarded up, down in the basement, and waits for help,

15. Final Image (110): Help has arrived for Ben. Most of the zombies have dispersed. As all is quite, Ben leaves the basement and creeps around in the living room. Outside, the help mistakes Ben for a zombie and kills him. Now they can't tell the living from the living dead.
