Michael (played by Jason Patric, who also played Jay in Expired 2007, Louis in Downloading Nancy 2008, and Brian in My Sister's Keeper 2009) is one of the main characters. He starts out being a good older brother that obeys his mom and drags his little brother around like his mother wants. Then, while at the carnival, he sees a girl that he likes. Though she hangs out with some bad boys. Michael hangs out with them to get closer to the girl. While hanging out, he drinks something that he doesn't like what it is. He later finds out it is vampire blood, which turns him into a half vampire.
Sam (played by Corey Haim, who also played Tony in The Back Lot Murders 2002, Sam in Lost Boys: The Tribe 2008, and Randy in Crank: High Voltage 2009) is Michael's little brother who reads a lot of comics and gets scared by them a lot. When he first goes to his mom about the vampires, she doesn't believe him because of how scared he gets of his comics. As he keeps bugging her about it, she gets madder and madder. He finally realizes that he needs to deal with it on his own, other than the help of his new friends "The Frog Brothers" of course.
Lucy (played by Dianne Wiest, who also played Flori in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints 2006, Carol in Dedication 2007, and Nana in Dan in Real Life 2007) is the single mom of Michael and Sam. She is a little naive and doesn't want to believe Sam with almost any story he tells her. She ends up dating a guy who is no good.
Grandpa (played by Barnard Hughes, who also played Father Maurice in Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit 1993, Beaumont in The Odd Couple II 1998, and Frank in Cradle Will Rock 1999) is the crazy grandpa who cracks jokes through out the whole movie.
Max (played by Edward Herrmann, who also played Mr. Landis in I Think I Love My Wife 2007,
Richard Gilmore in the TV sires Gilmore Girls, and Principal Fred Daly in Hatching Pete 2009) plays Lucy's boyfriend, and the head vampire.
David (played by Kiefer Sutherland, who also played Ace Merrill in Stand by Me 1986, Sgt. Roebuck in Call of Duty: World at War 2008, and the voice of General W. R. Monger in Monsters vs Aliens 2009) is the leader vampire that everyone thinks is the head vampire. He keeps the head vampire a secret from everyone.
Star (played by Jami Gertz, who also played Judy Miller in the TV show Still Standing, Joanne Fiedler in Keeping Up With the Steins 2006, and Sara Metcalfe in the TV show Shark) plays the girl that Michael likes and David's so called girlfriend. She too is a half vampire and tries not to turn into a full one, just as Michael does through out the whole movie. She ends up falling in love with Michael and helps him to kill David.
Edgar Frog (played by Corey Feldman, who also played Tommy{at 12} in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning 1985, Clark 'Mouth' Devereaux in The Goonies 1985, and Teddy Duchamp in Stand by Me 1986) is one of 'The Frog Brothers' who meet Sam in the beginning and help him through out the movie. They are vampire experts and killers.
Alan Frog (played by Jamison Newlander, who also played Anthony in The Blob 1988, Alexander in Rooster 2003, and Alan Frog in Lost Boys: The Tribe 2008) is the other frog brother who Sam meets.
As far as vampire movies go, this movie is one of the bests. The classics are always better, but these vampires aren't exactly ugly and they don't freakin' sparkle like the Twilight vampires do (not dissing Twilight, I actually like it. I just hate that they sparkle). Most of the vampire movies that I have seen are pretty cheesy with no really good story line. They either focus on all the blood or on the attacking. They hardly give a background story or any information on how the vampires work. This movie actually shows most of how the vampire's work, rather than giving a long and boring description. I give this movie 2 thumbs up.

The Lost Boys was the revive of the horror and action vampire movies that died out in the 1980's. They were comedies before, this movie was their revival. I liked it for many reasons, some of which was the story was captivating. Along the lines of Micheal and his family moving to Santa Carla, Micheal falls in with the vampire group on accident and becomes half vamp. The rest is Michael, Sam, and the Frog brothers trying to kill the head vamp to revers Michael's condition. Near the end there is a big confrontation, in which my favorite part is shown, a vampire is dumped into a bathtub of holy water and all the pipes and sinks in the house burst and spue blood everywhere. Another is the smart Alic lines you hear, like after all the vamps are dead the grandpa says "One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach. All the **** vampires." Over all, I think this is a very good movie.
